The more I read about the individual components of the Budwig protocol the more I admire her genius. I feel so fortunate to have stumbled upon this therapy.
While I am coping with breast cancer, my husband had been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. He had been doing the Budwig protocol with me and after 4 months, his blood pressure is amazing and he is off all diabetes meds. He still pricks his finger each morning, but records a number between 85 and 96. While he was on metformin the lowest number he could get was a 123. We are very grateful to Dr. Budwig’s work.
While the steps of the protocol keep us busy, the results are so beneficial and the energy levels amazing.
Thank you to everyone for their encouragement and I hope in some small way this post encourages others too.
I am healing one day at a time.

Yes! My dad and 2 of his friends have had great success with this. My dad went off the diabetes meds and within a month his sugar level was normal, and remains normal. his general health has also improved greatly. One of his friends has had type 2 diabetes since the early 1970s and started using Budwig, his levels also went to normal within a month.

Here is a very brief history from diagnosis June 2004 until today about my husband’s health–
Male breast cancer ( also diabetes type 2 and high blood pressure) Dx June 2004. Invasive ductal carcinoma, 4 out of 19 lymph nodes affected Medical treatment Mastectomy, radiotherapy ( radiotherapy temporarily damaged throat)
Oncologist recommended chemotherapy and tamoxifen but he declined.
Commenced Budwig protocol July, 2004
Almost immediate results… blood pressure dropped, diabetes normal, large lump on elbow disappeared and he felt in excellent health. Additions to basic diet. Red grape juice on waking every morning, green tea, carrot and apple juice daily. We are as strict with the diet as is humanly possible, we NEVER miss the morning FO/CC mix but he always drinks two or three glasses of red wine daily and eats organic chicken and fish occasionally. No supplements or artificial vitamins etc.

After two years and five months on the Budwig program for cancer and diabetes I am very happy to report that my husband’s latest blood tests show NO EVIDENCE at all of diabetes (he was previously diagnosed as type 2 diabetes) and NO EVIDENCE of cancer. He takes no medication for cancer and stopped medication (metformin) for the diabetes three months ago as it was causing serious stomach pains). Thank you Dr Budwig.
…my mother and I both have type 2 diabetes, and are also using the BP diet (for our own health and support for my father). My mother is on tablets only, but I am on tablets and insulin injections, however since starting this diet I have been able to reduce my insulin dosage and still have excellent blood/sugar readings. This is after only 2 weeks.

I posted last week asking if any T2 diabetics could tell me when to expect feeling better. I have other health issues too.Since then, I have found and accessed the files. I am well into my second week, and two days ago, I began to feel some energy. Before, I had difficulty walking from the couch or bed to the bathroom. I was really ill. Today, I walked the dog twice, about a quarter mile each time – not a lot, but a start. Yesterday, I was able to do some light household tasks, and today I am out pulling weeds. My husband is astounded and asked if he could do the Budwig diet too. I was only too happy to oblige, since it was a temptation having to cook meat for him.
Also, I mentioned I had suffered from delayed sleep onset syndrome for over thirty years – my days and nights were completely reversed. Now, I am up at dawn and in bed by 10 pm. I am so thrilled! It’s so wonderful to drink my buttermilk out on the patio and hear the birds. I am very grateful for this.
For the first three days, I had to get my husband to bring me the cottage cheese and flax oil and my seed grinder, since I was too weak to stand at the counter to do it. I had to do it on the couch. Now I am making the Budwig meals for both if us.
I think the daylight and sunshine helped tremendously. I had avoided the sun almost completely all my life, but ate a great deal of dairy, so was really upset to discover I had osteoporosis. So I decided to at least get out into daylight, and did, in the early morning. Now, I can take a little sun. There has been no burning. My skin is vanilla cream instead of deathly white.
This has been so rapid. I had already begun making funeral plans. I am not out of the woods, but I seem a little stronger each day.
My BG is coming down ever so slowly. Hopefully, that will stabilize too.
I will never stop this diet. It satisfies every craving I have. I am never hungry – I have a hard time eating all the food. I did add a green smoothie a day with greens, water and berries.
I am using the buckwheat (which I love), and millet, and bulgur, so far, and my husband likes these too (but not as much as I do). He is looking to bring his blood pressure down and then get off the blood thinners. He is working with our doc, who has to monitor his blood in case it thins too much.
So, this has been my progress so far. My mood has improved as well.
I did all diabetes tests at home for a three months period…I am pre-diabetic. If I stick to FO/CC for a while my morning sugar will go 2 points down compared to non Budwig lifestyle. This is HUGE for me. I am not very strict with the full Budwig plan but I make sure that I am having two FO/CC per day.

I am currently taking 1/3 cup FO and 2/3 cup low fat CC with fruit and honey and cinnamon, eating mainly fruit and vegetables (low carb to control my sugar levels which have improved markedly)…Any diabetics should restrict themselves mainly to low carb fruit and veg. I have gone from insulin dependent 12 months ago to being under control for the last 10 months, If it had been up to the doctors, I’d still be on insulin.
