Dr.Budwig wrote in her 1977 book “Der Tod des Tumors” (The Death of the Tumor), p.167:

[box] “In liver and gall bladder disease we first only gave (ground) flaxseeds, for several days besides the regular diet. Only after a few days did we begin with the actual Oil/Protein Diet, for instance with 1 tablespoon quark (CC) mixed with 1 teaspoon flaxseed oil. We then gradually increased (it) depending on the severity of the case and on tolerance. The quick and beneficial effect of the Oil/Protein Diet is especially evident in such sick people.”[/box]

In The Oil-Protein Diet Cookbook, Dr. Budwig explained the transition diet a little differently and in her last book (1999) Cancer – The Problem and the Solution, p.115, she listed foods for a transition diet. Below is a summary of how you might choose to follow the transition diet for 1 to 3 days at the start of this plan. This is helpful for pancreatic and other cancers as well.

Basically, the message in the 1999 book is to eat an easy-to-digest watery natural old-fashioned oatmeal with ground flaxseeds as often as is comfortable during the day along with freshly made juices, ideally, or pure store-bought juices that also have freshly ground flax seeds added. The juice and seeds should be swished in the mouth, chewed and blended with saliva before swallowing. The oatmeal should be made fresh each time.

The following foods are suggested to be consumed in the first
1-3 days on the transition diet. The amounts should be suited to the patient.

1] Oatmeal ‘gruel’ with freshly ground flax seeds added
three times a day or as often as needed.
2] Freshly pressed carrot juice at mid-morning.
3] Herbal or green warm teas 3 x a day, sweetened only with a little honey.

Oatmeal recipes #157 and #162 from Dr. Budwig’s cookbook:
1 cup [8 ounces or 250c] water
3 tblsp oat flakes
3 tblsp freshly ground flaxseeds

Put oat flake into cold water and bring to a boil.
Add ground flax seeds and bring to quick boil, then let stand for 10 minutes. For the very ill, pass the whole mass through a sieve. This gruel is very healthy…and can be combined with a little milk. It is also valuable
for regulating digestion. Vary this recipe by adding orange, grape, blueberry or cherry juices. After the transition days, begin the Budwig Protocol diet.
